Woman with a Fan by Renoir Art PrintOn a late afternoon, the soft pink looks almost illegally fresh. Renoir's young woman in her straw bonnet and deep blue jacket pulls the eye in, while the pink and white blooms behind her warm the whole wall. A room with a quiet palette gains a touch of romance and old world charm without tipping into fussy. Hang it above a dressing table, a slim console in a hallway or a chair in a reading corner. It sits beautifully with linen, velvet, soft green

the orange and white do the lifting under lamps

with optional real wood framing for a more finished edge

a red pagoda and cherry blossoms above a still lake

terracotta pots and warm ceramics

or above a kids' bed where the words can be read aloud

Skip it next to loud florals or other heavy travel imagery — this one wants room to breathe

Looks especially good in a slim oak or off-white frame

It wants a feature wall — above a sideboard

Skip rooms that are already loud with bold pattern and saturated colour — this one wants a calmer backdrop so its warm yellows and deep reds can do the work

Hang it where people sit and eat — above a sideboard in the dining room

Avoid stacking it next to busy patterned wallpaper or another statement print

The room shifts when this goes up
