Description

Cat Bath Bliss Canvas PrintSomewhere between Matisse and folk illustration, this bath time cat refuses to behave. The whole thing is painted in flat, confident colour orange wall, green floor, pink tub, one very smug black cat. Hang it and a small bathroom suddenly has a personality. The room stops being functional and starts being a room you actually walk into on purpose. Best above a toilet, a low shelf or beside a basin, where the cat sits roughly at eye level. Pair with

mosaicked in tiny mirrored squares

neutral wall suddenly has a focal point

Think of it as Matisse with less reverence and better instincts

Keep the rest of the wall quiet so the blue does the talking

Anything with a bit of patina

sand and warm clay sit on an off-white ground

or the awkward bit of wall above a console

A black and white ski photograph

It reads as proper painting from a distance and as a small joke up close

Hang it and a quiet

Cheerful without being loud

calm enough to live with
