Woman's Head by Leo Gestel Art PrintHere's the trick: let the portrait cut through all that linen. One clean black ink face on an off white ground does the heavy lifting in a room full of soft textures and pale wood. Hang it above a console, a slim desk, or a bedroom chest where it has room to breathe. Pair with a black metal lamp, a stoneware vase, and a stack of books in muted tones. It also pulls together a quiet gallery wall, sitting next to other line drawings or soft monochrome

Don't bury it on a busy gallery wall

The cut-out shapes pull warm brown

the burnished ochre reads less sweet

so it lifts a space rather than shouting at it

It earns its keep above a kitchen counter

chalky paint

so a busy room feels quieter and a quiet room feels intentional

a bench with a row of hooks above it

The soft yellow warms an off-white room

It's a lyric most people know without being told

a bit of oak or walnut

and the odd brushed brass detail
