Description

Portrait of Lydia by Henri Matisse Canvas PrintNot because it's mustard yellow, but because it refuses to fade back. Matisse's late portrait of Lydia holds the room with flat colour blocks, a green sweep of hair and a calm, level gaze. Hang it where you actually spend time. A warm toned study, a living room with leather and timber, or a bedroom that can carry a strong face on the wall. It pairs well with walnut, oak, warm brown leather, linen in mustard or olive, and a deep red or rust rug

Don't crowd it with other busy travel prints or strong patterned wallpaper — it wants a little room to breathe

One loud print

and the kitchen or dining room reads a bit more like somewhere food actually matters

go properly sized and the room turns sunny year-round

Don't crowd it with other busy patterns or strong colour blocks

Keep one wall mostly clear so the pink has room to breathe

and the whole space reads calmer without needing more stuff

a sunlit stone path

A simple oak or black frame keeps the humour intact

bold florals

deep red and gold

or a sideboard where the eye can travel through it
