Description

Chrysanthemum & Paulownia by Sekka Art PrintThink of it as Kamisaka Sekka with less reverence and better instincts. A near black paulownia leaf anchors the page while soft pink chrysanthemums and small lilac blooms drift in from the edges, all sitting on a warm cream ground laced with fine gold veining. Hang it above a low sideboard, a reading chair or a console in a calm room and it does the quiet work of slowing everything down. The cream lifts off white and putty walls; the dark leaf gives

notice what the deep green does to warm timber

The mosaic tiles catch the sun

What changes when it goes up: the room gets a clear focal point without turning busy

Plain off-white or pale pink walls flatter it best

soft blue sky and deep green lettuce do most of the work — you just need a blank wall

It cuts through the fuss with flat blocks of mustard

The blue at the top settles the eye

Hang it in the kitchen and the room loosens up

The brown holds the wall and the cream lifts the light

or grouped with other travel posters on a stairwell

Hang it where you sit and look — above a sofa

behind a sofa
