Description

La Place Arago, Toulouse by Raoul Dufy Art PrintToo much beige. Not enough blue green. This fixes that. A loose Dufy watercolour of a Toulouse square palms, park benches, pale buildings and small figures in soft blue and green. It warms up a quiet wall without shouting. The cream ground keeps the room calm; the blue green leaves do the lifting. Suddenly the sofa, the lamp and the rug all look more considered. Hang it at eye level above a sideboard, a low sofa or a hallway console. Landscape format

It sits best on a hallway wall or above a console

but the colour does the heavy lifting

terracotta rugs

your study can carry more dark green than it thinks

Hang it at eye level on a chalky off-white or soft stone wall

linen and aged leather

a low chest of drawers or a console in a hallway you walk past in the morning

A long dress patterned with ripe fruit and dark green leaves softens a room without dimming it

Hang it at eye-level on a pale wall and give it a bit of breathing space either side

and the loose watercolour edges keep the wall feeling calm rather than busy

so the piece reads as graphic rather than heavy

Go small and it's a cute aside
