Description

Child Among the Hollyhocks by Morisot Art PrintWe like a garden scene best when it comes with a little abrasion. Morisot's brushwork is loose and quick, and the colour sits in dusty greens, soft cream, warm brown and small dabs of pink and red nothing tidy, nothing posed. On the wall, it softens a sharp modern room and adds a bit of summer to a quiet one. Hang it above a bed, a low chest of drawers or a small reading chair where you can sit close to it. Pair it with linen, painted wood, aged brass

the lakeside green looks almost illegally fresh

or on a quiet bit of bedroom wall at eye level

social spark into the room — the kind of energy you usually only get when people are actually round

a stoneware jug of greenery

pastel quotes or cheerful kitchen prints will fight its mood

a row of paper hearts and a pale pink bicycle parked by the door

or a desk where you want a bit of city in the room without it feeling like a tourist shop

so the dark trees become the anchor that stops the whole thing tipping into sweetness

a fridge wall

The room gets a quiet bit of character — a wink rather than a punchline
