Description

Hydrangea by Kamisaka Sekka Canvas PrintEven the linen in here starts looking expensive next to that deep blue. Kamisaka Sekka's 1909 hydrangea brings a quiet, considered weight to a wall the kind of piece that does its job without shouting. The room slows down a little. The blue holds the eye, the green softens the edges, and the gold detail catches whatever lamp is on in the evening. Works well at eye level above a bed, a console, or a small writing desk. Bedrooms, studies and hallways

Hang it in a quiet bedroom

The starry sky pulls the room together — the wood reads warmer

dark cabinets

It works hardest in studies

on a narrow run beside the fridge

and gives a plain painted wall something to push against without taking over

and walls in soft sage

heavy gilded mirrors

this piece is a daily reminder that every idea starts small—and can go anywhere

it adds a single shot of strong colour without filling the wall with detail

and the whole room slows down with it

studies with pale wood
