Description

Sunlit Roman Street with Blue Dome Art PrintFrom the doorway, the vertical reads clean. Up close, not polite the pencil texture, the deep green cypress and the sky blue dome give the wall a proper lift. The room feels lighter and a little holiday ish, without tipping into theme. Good above a console in an entryway, a kitchen sideboard, or a kid's bookshelf where colour earns its keep. Pair with pale oak, rattan, chalky off white walls and warm yellow ceramics. Sits well with other travel

linen and a few stoneware pieces in cream and rust

Works equally well as a solo piece on a quiet wall

Avoid stacking it next to other busy patterns

and one or two solid-colour cushions in dusty pink or deep green

and with ceramics in soft pinks and creams

this abstract belonged to another kind of home — a Paris apartment where Matisse worked from bed with scissors and painted paper

which keeps the whole thing warm rather than clinical

and the small red trim keeps the whole thing from going soft

Let it be the only striped thing in the room

dark walls feel more deliberate

a hallway stops being a corridor and starts being a destination

snow-covered chalets
