Description

Serpent and Peony on Black Canvas PrintStart with the deep red; it'll wake every brass fitting around it. A coiled serpent winds through cream and deep red peonies on a near black ground, with olive grey leaves filling the gaps. What changes in the room: a quiet wall stops being quiet. The black ground reads as anchor, the red as warmth, and the cream peonies pull the eye in close from across the room. Where to hang it: above a console in an entryway, behind a reading chair, or as the one

confident focus

or on a hallway wall where it greets people on the way in

and the room around it picks up a bit of attitude

or above a bed where you want one strong

We like abstract botanicals best when they come with a little abrasion

terracotta and dusty pink

linen curtains and chalky off-white walls

or in a dining room that needs a bit of colour without bunting

and leaves that look properly drawn rather than printed

or a bed with simple linen

and the small blue and green scribbles stop the whole thing taking itself too seriously

with hot pink
