Summer Swimmers IV Canvas PrintSomewhere between Fairfield Porter and loose summer impressionism, this pool scene refuses to behave. Brushwork is quick and confident, and the colour does most of the talking. Hang it up and the room loosens. Deep blue water pulls the eye in, the dappled green shallows catch any sunlight in the room, and the small figures give the wall a sense of life without crowding it. It works above a sofa, a sideboard, or a bed anywhere you want a holiday
