Description

Blue Canopy Tree Art Print'Too safe,' said nobody standing in front of soft blue and grey. The canopy spreads wide across an off white sky, with hundreds of loose brush marks reading as leaves at a glance and as paint up close. Hang it and the room slows down a little. The blues stay quiet but the scale gives a wall something to look at, which is exactly what a flat space behind a sofa or a bed has been missing. It works best with calm, uncluttered furniture pale woods, cream

and the whole space gets a 1960s graphic edge

Avoid stacking it next to busier botanicals

daylit rooms suit it best

this piece instantly livens up your kitchen or dining nook

daisies and marigolds stitched into viridian grass with chalky pinks and a deep violet that holds the whole thing together

Don't sit it next to another loud floral — let it lead

Monet's 1886 view of the Manneporte cliff at Étretat brings open air and sea light into the room — the sort of piece that quietly lifts a wall without dominating it

Good in a study

and a dash of red flair

The colours are loud

Hang it where you slow down — above a bed

Sofas look more lived-in
