Description

William Morris Carnation Poster Art PrintStart with the deep green; it'll wake every brass fitting around it. The bright red carnation lifts off the cream centre, and the gold cream Arts and Crafts border gives the whole room a sense of order. Hang it in a study, hallway or reading corner where you want a bit of weight on the wall. It sits well above a writing desk, a small console or a dark wood sideboard, and it loves a deep green, sage or warm off white wall. Pair it with linen

It also holds its own above a guest bed in a coastal bedroom

and stoneware in mustard or terracotta

calm focal point

Avoid hanging it next to other strong travel posters — it wants to be the one trip on the wall

or in a reading corner near a lamp

the photo wants air around it

Portrait shape suits narrow walls between doors or shelving

Don't overpower it with other strong pattern in the same room — give it space to be the talking point

The room stops feeling like a showroom and starts feeling like somewhere people actually eat

sun-baked feel

neutral room suddenly feels like it has a window onto a real place

Don't bury it in other slogan prints — it works best as the loudest thing on the wall
