Description

Sunlit Doorway to the Courtyard Art PrintThink of it as Matisse with less reverence and better instincts. A pair of open doors one cobalt blue, one mustard yellow frames a sunlit courtyard full of cacti, with palms in terracotta pots standing guard either side. Hang it in a living room and the whole room warms up. The soft pink walls in the picture pull pink undertones out of plaster, linen and pale timber, while the cobalt and mustard give you two strong anchor colours to build around.

What to avoid: don't crowd it with other strong blue pieces or anything tropical and high-contrast

Put this on the wall and the room breathes out

and stoneware in cream or stone

with a single black cat sitting on the balcony

The mood is playful

Hang it and that corner suddenly has a destination

or lean into the contrast with brass handles and a deeper rug

with its swallows wheeling around a tall bottle and a tiny hillside village at the base

gallery-faithful pigment depth

Works well above a console in an entryway

Don't crowd it with other busy florals or another dark-ground poster — it wants one clear patch of wall and quieter neighbours
