Description

Cave Caloz Humagne Rouge 'La Mourziere' Valais 2022At our urging, Conrad Caloz has begun to raise his Humagne Rouge, a local grape notorious for its fickle nature and stubborn refusal to ripen quickly, in a larger barrel format (demi muid). We believe that this levage helps to tame this wine which has rustic nature and firm structure.

plummy fruit of vividness and clarity on a dry yet supple frame

lifted palate saturated with red fruits

With fruit notably more luscious and supple than its white-Xarel·lo counterparts

a reason for the prolonged aging in large wooden barrels for over 4 years

05ha parcel in Verin

mineral-drenched finish

With “Mirabelles” we move beyond Xarel·lo into uncharted waters

with true Mediterranean character

An error that many make in assessing and utilizing these wines is to consider the sugar quotient as a disqualifier for use of this wine during any stage of a meal

located just outside of Travaillan

The wine is bottled after twenty months of élevage

it possesses a deeper vein of classicism and a more drivingly linear palate
