Description

Statue of Bathing Maiden c.1920A beautiful English statue of a Maiden bathing c. 1920 in composite stone, overpainted with layers of white.

These oversized Torchères would have adorned a French Stately Home or Palace during the reign of The Sun King Louis XIV

Available individually on request at £395 each

The work is not only a still life but a window into a contemplative space where past and present quietly converge

its quiet rhythms

An incredible part of British history

These details reflect its long working life and lend the piece an honest

Gesso and original polychrome

Still life with Italian earthenware bowl from Puglia

Would look fantastic as statement interior pieces or garden

They have a charming natural patina and are large enough for shrubs or trees

Originally naively made and created as a child’s toy

it is a substantial and atmospheric piece of early English garden and architectural sculpture
