Description

Lake SevanLake Sevan was born at a moment of personal transition. While my earlier paintings navigated uncertainty, this work emerged from a more stable, though still evolving position. Central to this work is the notion of an anchor: an image, a place, or a memory to which one can return in order to restore inner balance. This understanding did not come immediately. While working on the painting, I encountered the method of anchoring, a practice that involves

folded gently into pigment until they soften into calm

yet still fully handmade

and a soft clasp

It has been exhibited internationally — in Estonia

Each evening I returned to the canvas

At the core of the piece lies a block of hand-carved ebony

painted slowly and transformed through time

Throughout my practice

then transformed into a wearable form through the process of metal casting
